13yo Danny is so excited to be spending a week with his uncle Bill, who owns a successful video arcade - video games are his jam and now he will be able to play for hours every day. On the way, he is listening to one of his favorite games that is so obscure, it is more of an urban legend - Grin - a game that supposedly brings death along with it.  Imagine Danny’s surprise when Uncle Bill unveils his newest purchase  - Grin. Danny has gotten into a lot more than he bargained for during his arcade week.  He is going to have to gather a few allies if he is going to defeat the evil that wants his Uncle.

I love that GIllespie front loads the possibility of danger and then jumps right into making us afraid - just the kind of scare that builds the most anticipation/anxiety in the reader. I will happily recommend to my students who are craving a good scary book.
