Milkwan and Dez are best friends, as close as sisters. Dez grandmother is ill and the social worker doesn't think she can care for Dez anymore and is planning to put her in a group home. When Dez can't face that prospect, she doesn't go home, and Milkwan fears she is missing - like Milkwan's mother.

Spillett and Donovan are writing this debut graphic novel series in response to the alarming number of indigenous women and girls who go missing or are murdered in the US and Canada every year. The city is a scary place when you are a target. I loved that the spirits of other women accompany the girls. Spirits are also with the less savory people and they are dark and scary. An important read.
