The birds of the forest use the words on the wind from the princess and her best friend, who have spent many happy days chatting in the garden. Now the princess is alone and her words are full of sorrow. The birds try everything they can think of to cheer her up and bring happiness back to their world. McClellan has a funky, colorful style of illustration that I have not seen before – and thoroughly enjoyed. The story would be a great addition to any elementary collection, either to show a wider range of story illustration or to read aloud for story time. EL (K-3) – ADVISABLE. Cindy, Library Teacher.
