Prince Mansour and his royal storyteller, Awa, journey to reach the mysterious wizard, Soumaoro, who has a fearsome power he has used to destroy the world.

Inspired by West-African folklore, the story has cultural merit. There were notes in the back of the book about the name pronunciations and the folklore behind the story. This was helpful, because without knowing any West-African folklore I found the story difficult to follow. The stylized art was intriguing but didn’t help clarify the storyline. I felt like there was a great story here that I didn’t understand fully.
