Dash is trying to piece together his memory, since he can’t remember writing in his journal the previous summer. His memory may not be the biggest problem he and his friends face, since there is a face-eating monster that may or may not be trapped in the woods. This book also jumps back in time to 1994 when the ghost girls Dash befriended in his journal are alive and well and on a monster hunt with their dad. 

If you have read the other books in the series, this one will make more sense. The art is fun and creepy at the same time and the plot intriguing. If you are a fan of Gravity Falls, then this will be the series for you. Black Sand Beach is a mysterious and dangerous place that’s full of surprises.
