Ten years ago, Maggie and six others were kidnapped and held hostage in a cave in the woods. THe others escaped, leaving Maggie behind. Now sixteen, Maggie is going on a school trip - back into those same hills for a river-rafting trip, with five of the other kids and a new girl. Unfortunately she is also with her estranged father. When disaster strikes, Maggie’s father is swept with the boat downstream, along with her best friend, Ant. As the Scottish night falls and the weather turns rough, those left behind struggle to find a way to survive - even though it feels like someone might be trying to kill them.

McKay does a great job of confusing the trail to the killer. I very much enjoyed the ride.
