Running for his life from the Night Brigade, Nomad has visited worlds all over the cosmere. Landing on this planet is especially unpleasant as the torment Nomad suffers from is getting worse, the planet is barely able to sustain life, and a tyrant is attempting world domination. Somehow, Nomad has to make it off the planet before the Night Brigade finds him, and his lot has been thrown in with the planet’s underdogs.

While Nomad’s story has several references to The Stormlight Archives series, I loved his adventure without understanding all of said references. Nomad is an unconventional hero who is changed by the experiences he has with the people on this random planet—neither he nor readers will ever be the same. As always, Sanderson introduces interesting points to ponder and balances comedy with tragedy. Also included are beautiful illustrations of the characters and the planet.

Nomad is Black, and the characters are described as having various skin tones. The mature content rating is for alcohol use, mild innuendo, nudity, and brief discussions of sex. The violence rating is for assault, fantasy violence, gun use, and murder.
