11yo Peggy was born into a titled British family and is Lady Margaret; she has a lady's maid and there is a whole staff of servants at the Manor. But on the eve of her 12th birthday, a series of circumstances occurs when her entitled cousin arrives from France with her family, and Peggy's lady's maid is fired. Peggy knows Sarah is innocent, but no one cares, so Peggy investigates.

Oh, this was a great mystery, perfect for the 10-12yo sleuths. Well-placed clues, a secret passageway, and a turn-of-the-century manor. It felt like Downton Abby with the downstairs servants' quarters. I'm so glad this is a series; I've already lined up book 2.
