Auntie Zee does not want 16yo Calisa to help her at her remote Vermont Inn for the summer. Not even for a bit of it. As Calisa works to prove herself to her aunt and help fix the various problems of the inn, she realizes that all is not as it seems. Despite being unlucky in love, Calisa's heart is in the right place and when she realizes the inn really is magical, she knows that here is where she wants to be - if only she could convince Auntie Zee.

I  love that the budding romance between Calisa and Jack is not the point of the novel - Calisa is a well-rounded heroine who also happens to find love. Durst writes fantasy so well - her world building keeps me fascinated.
