16yo Miles is spending a day in in-school suspension, What starts out as a relatively simple detention turns into something far more sinister. Even though Miles' crush is also in in-school suspension, his spider senses tell him that danger is near. 

I pretty much love anything Jason Reynolds. However, I had a hard time getting into this book. It's a cross between poetry and novel, which didn't seem to fit the action genre and there seemed to be a lot of unnecessary schoolwork exposition. While it's beautifully written, it was confusing in places and the action didn't pick up until a third of the way in. Miles is Black Puerto Rican.
