Olive is heading off to art school in the fall, but this summer she is interning with a digital-image specialist in the fashion industry. There she sees first hand the touching-up that goes into a perfect photo – whether for print or a virtual campaign. She also learns about the trend towards virtual models, which might replace human models. Olive struggles with her own self-image and her addiction to a slew of social media platforms.
Szamosi writes an honest look at the way media and social media effects everyone – but especially our teens and 20 somethings. Simple and deep simultaneously – truly shows us how fashion and influencers work on us without being preachy. I am curious to see how my students will embrace this.
