Cerato, Mattia  Drew
the Screw  Holiday House, 2016.  $14.95
PICTURE BOOK  Content: G.
Drew lives in a garage among all the
different tools.  He explains what the
hammer and saw do, but the tools wonder what he is for.  Eventually he is used to hang a Home Sweet
Home sign above a tree house.
The
illustrations are cute with tools that have eyes and facial expressions, which
is why the cover will get a tool lover’s attention.  The colors are bright and the text is a
simple one line per page spread.  The
story is boring though and feels disjointed, it’s like a Handy Mandy
super-short version.  Maybe if the tree house was a project throughout the book instead of as a random ending.
PRE-K –OPTIONAL.  Reviewer, C. Peterson.
