Hilo the Boy Who Crashed to Earth by Judd Winick –ESSENTIAL

Hilo the Boy Who Crashed to Earth by Judd Winick, 192 pgs. Random House, 2015. $13.99 GRAPHIC NOVEL

D.J. isn’t like his talented siblings, he isn’t good at anything but being a good friend, and even that ends when his best friend moves away. One day he is just hanging out and he sees something crash to earth. It’s a boy, a boy only wearing underwear! D.J. does his best to help him out and hilarity ensues. Turns out that his new buddy Hilo isn’t just a boy, and together they face dangerous creatures!

I have been patiently waiting for a book like this since the Zita the Spacegirl series came out. This graphic novel is wholesome, hilarious, and features top notch artwork. This is a must buy for a school library collection graphic novel. Perfect for 3-6 grade readers. The bottom line is that this story has heart, enough said.
