When the idea that he could be more than he is introduced to
general Macbeth, he is intrigued. When opportunities arise to make that change
happen are presented, Macbeth only needs a bit of prodding from his wife to
push forward. But dishonesty is a never ending task and the dead will not stay
dead, and Macbeth finds out that power has a high price. This is dark mysterious portrayal of the classic story.
The author has obviously put a lot of careful thought and care into how he
constructed this adaption; both through text and his art choices. There are
some gruesome images that I must unstick before I go to bed tonight, including:
(SPOILER) a skinless body, a bloody baby, and a child being murdered. Its one
thing to read something like ‘the whole family was killed’ and another to see
it in action. I would hope this would be a jumping off point for a student
diving into the full text. HS –ADVISABLE Reviewer: Stephanie Elementary School Librarian
