Grandma Forgets by Russell and Johnston - ESSENTIAL

Russell, Paul and Nicky Johnston Grandma Forgets. PICTURE BOOK. EK Books (Exisle Publishing), 2017. $17.99.

Grandma is getting older and does not remember things the way she did in the past. Despite that, her family still enjoys being with her and making new memories. Grandma might not remember, but they remember. Its a new situation, but one that is still okay when you are with people you love.

I was immediately drawn to this book by its title and cover. I love the soft and loving feeling to the illustrations--they are very inviting and cheerful. The topic of a grandparent whose memory is slipping is all too familiar to many, and I think this book tackles it in a way that will help readers of all ages. Adults might find themselves shedding a tear over it, and younger readers will enjoy the message and pictures for what they are. Overall a great pick.
