Motor Mix: Flight OR Motor Mix: Emergency by Emily Snape- ADVISABLE

Snape, Emily. Motor Mix: Flight OR Motor Mix: Emergency, BOARD BOOK. Chronicle Books, 2017. $9.99.

These board books are split into three sections as the reader turns the pages. The section at the top tells about what the vehicle is doing (e.g. “I am launching”). The middle section demonstrates the sound the vehicle makes (e.g. Roar, zoom). The bottom section describes where the vehicle is moving (e.g. “into outer space”). As the reader turns each section, to fully form the next vehicle picture on the following page, they can also choose to mix up the different sections to make new, crazy looking transportation.

These are really cool books. The interactive feature that lets kids move the portions around is really different and the various types of vehicles are some that are not as well known. It is a great one to read one on one with a child so that you can explain what the different vehicles are, but also a fun one for them to look at on their own. They may not be a great purchase for a school library, as they could get worn out quickly, but they are awesome.
