Swish is a young mouse with ears that hear a
lot. From morning until night she hears noise: her sister, Squeak, crunching on
cereal, the squeak of her wagon wheel, the school bell ringing, and more. By
day's end she is tired, and the very last sound she hears is her sister's light
snores as she goes off to sleep.
This is a simple book that highlights sounds.
The text is made up of lots of sound words--CRUNCH, SQUEAK, NIBBLE, etc. The
illustrations are done in pinks and pastels--seemingly intent on appealing to a
female audience. There is little to complain about with this picture book, but
also little to set it apart. Its a nice book but nothing to rave about.
