I Believe in a Thing Called Love by Maureen Goo - ADVISABLE

Goo, Maurene I Believe in a Thing Called Love, 317 pgs. Farrar Straus Giroux Books (Macmillan Publishing Group), 2017. $17.99 Language – R (153 swears, 1 “f”), Mature Content – PG; Violence – PG;

Desi is the ultimate type A personality; if Desi has a plan, then everything works out. Unfortunately for her, love is random and cannot be planned. Or can it? Inspired by her father’s K dramas, Desi discovers that there are 24 steps to true love, but will they work outside of television?

Seriously, I Believe in a Thing Called Love is the most hilarious book that I have read all year! I couldn’t read an entire paragraph without my face breaking out in a smile, and my laughter was almost as constant. Desi is so earnest and adorable that readers can’t help but love her despite her craziness. However, I plead with you: please do not try her antics at home.
