Little Elliot, Big Fun by Mike Curato - ADVISABLE

Curato, Mike.  Little Elliot, Big Fun.  PICTURE BOOK.  Henry Holt and Co., 2016.  $17.99.  Content: G.
Little Elliot, the elephant, has a big adventure.  He and Mouse go to the pier.  Elliot is too afraid to go on any of the carnival rides—they are too fast, too spinney, and too scary.  While getting a snack, he loses his friend mouse.  He runs and is very scared before he finds Mouse on the beach.  They have ice cream cone in the sand and Elliot is ready to try a ride.  They get on the Ferris wheel and Elliot sees an amazing view.  He’s no longer scared and tries more rides and games for a great day with Mouse.

Children are often afraid to try new things and this book captures what it is like to experience something new.  Author/illustrator, Mike Curato used pencil on paper and digital color to create the illustrations.  The illustrations have a vintage look and feel with men wearing suits and hats and women in dresses.  Elliot the elephant has more stories: Little Elliot, Big City and Little Elliot, Big Family.
