Silo and the Rebel Raiders by V. Peyton - OPTIONAL

Peyton V. Silo and the Rebel Raiders, 291 pages.  Delacorte (Random), 2015.  $17.

Language: G; Mature Content: G; Violence: PG (Some danger).

Silo Zyco may only be ten, but he is the Chronicle Keeper for his village and he thinks he has the power to see the future.  When the Capitol inspector comes around, he displays his power and is taken away.  Right away he gets into trouble because he is not willing to blindly follow.  And the other seers, especially Elgarth Early, want to be the only, the most important seer.  Silo will make new friends, earn an ominous nickname, and save the day before he returns home again.

By the time I finished reading, I had completely forgotten that Silo was only ten.  Rollicking is the best word to describe this book.  Students looking for humorous fantasy will immensely enjoy this, but it might take some hand selling to get the ball rolling.
