Story of Moana: A Tale of Courage and Adventure by Kari Sutherland-ADVISABLE

Sutherland, Kari, Story of Moana: A Tale of Courage and Adventure. Pgs. 300. Disney Hyperion, 2016. $10.99. Language: G, Mature Content: G, Violence: G

Moana lives on Motonui island her whole life. The ocean was always feared in the community, but Moana longed to cross the ocean and go on an adventure. Her father, however, wants her to take over as Chieftess of their village. When a legendary darkness threatens to destroy their village, however, Moana must set out in search of the demigod, Te Fiti’s heart to right past wrongs and save her village. Will she succeed?

A delightfully engaging story that’s well-written and draws the reader into Moana’s world. The story is pretty true to the movie and even includes some fun temporary tattoos in the back. Fans of the Moana movie, mythology, and adventure will enjoy reading this book.
