Never Follow a Dinosaur by Alex Latimer - ADVISABLE

Latimer, Alex Never Follow a Dinosaur, PICTUREBOOK. Peachtree, 2016. $16.95.

When Joe and Sally spot a strange set of footprints, they decide that it must be a dinosaur.  They add up the “clues” and decide what kind of dinosaur it is.  But when the footsteps suddenly disappear, they set a trap to catch it the next day.  Their parents tell them it must be something else, and when their trap is empty they don’t know what to think, until the Dinosaur shows up and flies away with them.

I liked how they connected the clues with traits the dinosaur must have.  A fun way to teach deductive reasoning.  A bit of silly ending, though.
