The Bad Guys by Aaron Blabey -ADVISABLE

Blabey, Aaron  The Bad Guys 138 pgs. Scholastic, 2017. $5.99  Content: Language: G (0 swears); Mature Content: G Violence: G
A wolf tries to talk the reader into thinking he is a good guy. He brings in a shark, a piranha and a snake, in order to try to create a gang of misunderstood good guys. Its takes some convincing and lectures, but they give it a go. First they try to rescue a treed cat, next to rescue dogs from the pound. Will the gang follow the rules, or eat each other and all of those who the wolf is trying to protect?
At first I was a bit bored, thinking yet another book where the big bad wolf tries to win us over, but this book surprised me. The dialogue is really funny and their adventures play out in a creative way. I think reluctant readers will love this easy to read chapter book that is stuffed with silly pictures and just a few well timed fart jokes. Perfect for 1-3 graders.
