Scrooge #worstgiftever by Charles Dickens and Brett Wright -ESSENTIAL

Dickens, Charles and Wright, Brett  Scrooge #worstgiftever 89 pgs. Random House, 2016. $9.99  Content: Language: PG-PG13 (2 official, many implied with emoticons); Mature Content: PG Violence: G
This is a re-telling of the class novel by Charles Dickens of a Christmas Carol, but its not ordinary re-telling, its told in text message format. That means acronyms and emoticons and reading back and forth on a page (Don’t worry there is a guide in the back (called the 411). Features full color pages to help differentiate the characters and make the emoticons stand out.
I just adore this series, and this one is particularly humorous. I was laughing out loud. There is no better way to engage the classics and endear them to this generation than text messaging. (other than an enthusiastic top notch teacher) If nothing else, it makes diving into the full text a bit easier, as a foundation for the plot and personalities is provided. (along with that feeling of fun that this book also brings). There are many implied swear words such as the Poop emoticon and WTF. The official meanings are listed in the 411, so officially on two are written out. This one is the most wholesome and least violent of the series I have read so far.
