Imagine a City by Elise Hurst - ADVISABLE

Hurst, Elise Imagine a City. PICTURE BOOK. Doubleday Books for Young Readers, 2016. $16.99. Content: G.

Two children go on an adventure in the city and as they use their imaginations, all sorts of things happen. Animals are living amongst the humans, people fly away on umbrellas, and even fish fly in the sky.

All of these adventures happen with beautiful, whimsical illustrations. The illustrations in this book are beyond amazing. They are truly works of art—the kind you would want to frame and put up in your home. The few and simple words that go along with the artwork are also full of whimsy and the idea that imagination can open all sorts of adventures—wherever and whatever you want it to be! This is definitely a book that adults will appreciate and want to share with their kids. I do not think that all kids will connect with this kind of story with its black & white illustrations and abstract language, but its absolutely worth a shot.
