These Vicious Masks by Tarun Shanker and Kelly Zekas - ADVISABLE

Shanker, Tarun and Kelly Zekas These Vicious Masks (These Vicious Masks, #1), 298 pgs.  Swoon Reads, 2016.  $9.99  Content: Language: PG-13 (25 swears); Mature Content: PG-13; Violence: PG-13.

Evelyn adores her sweet sister, Rose, so when Rose disappears under questionable circumstances, Evelyn goes against her parents’ wishes to London.  She convinces a friend, Mr. Kent, to help her and she keeps crossing paths with a brooding gentleman, Sebastian.  When Evelyn delves into her sister’s situation she learns that there are people in London who have super-powers and they believe Rose has them as well, so Evelyn has to get to Rose before she is experimented upon and it is too late.

I enjoyed this entertaining adventure and the characters.  There were laugh-out loud moments of dialogue and Evelyn is fun to cheer for.  The book is more action that character development, and the ending is set up for the next book.  The content is an attempted rape, fighting and a brothel scene.

MS, HS – ADVISABLE.  Reviewer, C. Peterson.
