Elliot Gets Lost by David Lowery and Toby Halbrooks - ADVISABLE

Lowery, David and Toby Halbrooks  Elliot Gets Lost Illustrated by Benjamin Lowery  Disney Press, 2016. $16.99  PICTURE BOOK  Content: G.

Elliott is a cute little puppy who likes to go on adventures with his family that loves him.  While they are on a camping trip Elliott chases the Frisbee into the forest and gets turned around.  He goes to different forest animals and tries to get help, but can’t find his family.  When it starts to get dark out, the animals all gather together to help Elliott find his way back to his people.

Elliott is likable and the story line has a simple format that young readers can follow.  The illustrations are in muted colors but are attractive.  There isn’t anything that stands out about this story, but it is a sweet feel good picture book.  The front cover says: “As seen in Pete’s Dragon”, which is confusing because I don’t recognize any of the characters from the original Pete’s dragon, but maybe it's from the new Pete's Dragon- I wonder if that will draw readers as well.
