Don't Throw It to Mo by David A. Adler, illustrated by Sam Ricks - ADVISABLE

Adler, David A.  Don’t Throw It to Mo, illustrated by Sam Ricks.  Penguin Young Readers, 2015.  $3.99.  32 pages.  EARLY READER.

Mo loves football. He’s on a team called the Robins.  He’s the smallest, so he often sits on the bench with the coach.  The coach butters the ball and throws it to Mo, who misses it.  The coach explains that Mo needs to catch the ball even when it’s slippery.  The coach puts Mo in the game and tells the quarterback “Don’t throw it to Mo” for two plays in a row.  On the last play of the game, the coach tells the quarterback to throw it to Mo, who catches it and wins the game.  This early reader book is a level 2, guided level reading I.  The illustrations are perfectly paired with this football tale.  A great edition to any early reader collection that is sure to appeal to young boys.
