The Will to Survive by Eric Walters - ESSENTIAL

Walters, Eric The Will to Survive (Power of Three #3), 310 pages.  Farrar, Straus, Giroux (Macmillan), 2016.  $18.  Language: G (1 swear, 0 ‘f’); Mature Content: G; Violence: PG (lots of violence, but rarely bloody).

Adam is struggling with the deaths of the men he had to kill in order to protect his family after the global blackout.  The community that he helped to build are surviving and adding allies, but their greatest enemy is still out there and that man is willing to sacrifice a lot order to bring down Adam and the neighborhood.  There is still more fighting to do in order to maintain civilization and sanity.

Walters continues his gripping look at a possible life after a world-wide electricity blackout.  Instead of descending into violence, this particular group uses violence only to defend themselves from other predators, human or other.  And Walters writes the books without resorting to gratuitous swearing, violence, and blood, and still remains believable.
