Rebel, Bully, Geek, Pariah by Erin Lange - ADVISABLE

Lange, Erin Jade Rebel, Bully, Geek, Pariah, 310 pgs. Bloomsbury Publishing, 2016. $17.99.  Language: R (148 swears, 17 “f”); Mature Content: PG-13; Violence: PG-13.

Four teenagers end up on the run together after an incident at a party goes bad.  Forced together, it would seem that they have nothing in common.  However, each of the two boys and two girls have demons in their past they are dealing with in addition to the threat to their present.   As the unlikely group learns to work together, their past influences the decisions they make to stay alive.

The book is a fast read with high interest.  The storytelling bounces to a few flashbacks to flesh out the characters and is done through Sam, the pariah, who tries to stay invisible for reasons of her own.  The content deals with mature content, including dysfunctional families, drugs, lesbianism, stealing, and violence, though not in graphic detail.

HS – ADVISABLE.  Reviewer, Michelle in the Middle
