Nice Work, Franklin! By Suzanne Jurmain -ADVISABLE

Jurmain, Suzanne Nice Work, Franklin! 25 pgs Dial, 2016. $17.99 PICTUREBOOK/BIOGRAPHY
This is the story of Franklin Roosevelt’s adult life and career as president. We learn about his ambition, his imitation of his cousin President Teddy Roosevelt, and his hard to put himself in a place where he could run for president someday. Readers then find out about his illness that paralyzed his legs and his determination to move forward. He learned how to connect with the people and worked hard to better the country as it went through one of its toughest periods, the Great Depression.
This is a nice biography that could be shared with third grade and up due to the vocabulary and the historical context. There isn’t enough childhood or personal information for a student research though. Great for lessons on presidents, determination, hardwork, the great depression, and overcoming challenges.
