Balto of the Blue Dawn (Magic Treehouse #54) by Mary Pope Osborne -ADVISABLE

Osborne, Mary Pope Balto of the Blue Dawn (Magic Treehouse #54) 117 pgs Random House, 2016. $12.99 Content: Language: G (0 swears); Mature Content: G Violence: G
Jack and Annie have arrived in Nome Alaska in the year 1925. Their job is to help the much needed medicine to get to the town via dogsled. So they set off with their own dogsled team, a bit of magic, and look for the mushing team led by the famous dog Balto. But it’s a terrible snowstorm, and their magic only lasts just 12 hours.
This is a fun addition to the series. Its very simple and easy to understand. Students will enjoy reading about the various mushing commands, the extreme cold, and of course the dogs. This would go perfectly with a unit on the yearly Iditarod race. The hardbound cover is sparkly and appealing.
