Steve, Raised by Wolves by Jared Chapman - ADVISABLE

Chapman, Jared  Steve, Raised by Wolves  Little Brown and Company, 2015.  $17.00  PICTURE BOOK  Content: G.

Steve is raised by wolves, so when his mom sends him to school he has a hard time with the other humans.  He tries to wrestle kids, eats a dead bird for lunch and is found marking his territory on the playground.  Steve’s teacher comes and talks to Steve’s mom and they explain to Steve that he can be himself, but he needs to control himself.  When the class hamster goes missing, Steve uses his wolf instincts and saves the day.  He finds a way to belong and still be himself in other ways too.

This book is hilarious and the cartoon-ish illustrations are adorable.  It’s creative and a great way to start a conversation with a young kid about what is acceptable at home and what is acceptable at school.
