Emmanuel’s Dream: The True Story of Emmanuel Ofosu Yeboah by Laurie Ann Thompson - ADVISABLE

Thompson, Laurie Ann Emmanuel’s Dream: The True Story of Emmanuel Ofosu Yeboah, illustrated by Sean Qualls. PICTUREBOOK. Schwartz & Wade Books, 2015. $17.99. Content: G.

Emmanuel was born with one lame leg, but he worked very hard and achieved his goals.  He became an outspoken advocate for disabled people in Ghana, riding a bicycle across the whole country (nearly 400 miles), speaking out for rights and asking for change.

With the message that disability doesn’t mean inability, this inspiring true story is a great introduction to children about the challenges of having a disability and empathy for those who do.
