The Princess and the Giant by Caryl Hart –ADVISABLE

Hart, Caryl  Paddington and the Christmas Surprise  Nosy Crow, 2015 $16.99 PICTURE BOOK
Sophie is a princess and in her yard grows a beanstalk that lead to a giant. This giant has been keeping everyone up all night, since he can’t sleep he is very noisy. At her dad, the Kings, suggestion, she reads the fairytales to learn more about giants. It gives her many ideas, like Goldilocks eating porridge then falling asleep. Soon she is climbing the beanstalk to try one thing after another. Nothing is working and the Giant is in danger. Will Sophie figure things out in time?
First off this book is adorably illustrated with large pages, harmonious bright colors, and large variety in view. The rhyming story is very cute with a plot and ending that librarians will adore! Students have read or are familiar with the basics of a number of fairytales will have an easier time understanding the plot. Maybe 1-2 graders.
