Smuggler’s Run by Greg Rucka - ADVISABLE

Rucka, Greg Smuggler’s Run (Star Wars), 183 pages.  Disney, 2015.  $13.  Violence: PG; Language: G; Mature Content: G.

A Han Solo and Chewbacca Adventure.  After The Battle of Yavin (first time the rebels blew up a Death Star), Han is asked to take on a dangerous mission to rescue a key player in the rebellion whose ship was attacked by the Empire.  While Han is not too keen, Chewbacca convinces him - putting them both back into mortal danger, calling in old favors, and running from the Empire.  Han will have to pull off another brilliant last minute plan in order to save them all from certain destruction.

If you grew up with Star Wars and the Star Wars multiverse like I did, you probably need a refresher on what actually is considered part of the canon. I found a handy timeline here by David Solomon.
Rucka writes a swashbuckler perfectly aligned with Han’s character and the action and adventure implicit with the franchise.  I am already hoping that some of the peripheral characters show up in the new movies or somewhere else along the way!
