Little Elfie One by Pamela Jane –OPTIONAL
A Christmas rhyme set to the tune of “Over in the Meadow”, this book features elves, cats, santa, stars, and mice. Each page shows what the featured creature is doing and how many of them there are. Ending is of course, Santa taking off to deliver gifts. Artwork is really cute and bright and cheery.
This is a cute story, with a rhyming cadence that would lend itself well to a read-aloud for younger students. The illustrations are large and bright enough to be viewed by a class. The problem? The story is just kind of odd, sometimes the rhyming is forced and funky too. For Example, why would a little Elf be so excited to see Santa, when he probably sees him every day at the toy factory?
