The Odds of Getting Even by Sheila Turnage - ADVISABLE

Turnage, Sheila The Odds of Getting Even, 342 pgs. Penguin 2015. $16.99. Language: G (0 swears); Violence: PG; Mature Content: G.

The whole town of Tupelo is anxiously awaiting the “Trial of the Century”. As Mo and Dale wait at the courthouse for Dale’s daddy to make his plea, they are suddenly caught up in another case (or is it the same case) Macon Johnson has escaped! Armed and dangerous (and driving a patrol car), he’s on the lam. Who helped him? How far will he get? He’s threatened people; even Lavender is in danger.  Can Desperado Detective Agency solve the case, find Macon, and save Lavender in time? Book #3 in the Tupelo Landing Series (Three Times Lucky)

Well written, and action packed, the mystery unfolds and the reader sees all the clues along with the detectives.  Enough twists and turns to challenge even the most experienced armchair detective, this is a great part 3. Can stand alone, but is best read in order; so many characters, their back stories aren’t crucial but keeping track of everyone can be daunting if you haven’t met them already.
