A Court of Thorns and Roses - PUBLIC ONLY

Maas, Sarah J.  A Court of Thorns and Roses (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #1), 416 pgs.  Bloomsbury, 2015.  $18.99  Content:  Language: PG-13 (55 swears); Mature Content: R; Violence: R.

Feyre learned to hunt in order to care for her three sisters and her crippled father, so when she kills a faerie wolf and sells his pelt, a high lord from the faerie court comes to collect on the debt.  Feyre has to live with the high lord, Tamlin, at the faerie court.  Tamlin treats her well, but she worries about her family and she starts to realize that the faerie world is unstable and it could leak into the human world.  Feyre has to find a way to help Tamlin, even when Tamlin just wants to protect her.

This rendition on Beauty and the Beast was impossible to put down.  The characters are so easy to fall in love with, the story line is quick paced and the world is well built.  The amount of adult content makes it impossible to recommend to a school library.  There is on page sex and many sexual references.  The violence is gruesome torture.  As appealing as the cover is and as fantastic as the story is, the content is too much.

PUBLIC ONLY  Reviewer, C. Peterson.
