What’s That in the Water? A Pop-Up Mystery by Eryl Norris and Andy Mansfield - ADVISABLE

Norris, Eryl and Andy Mansfield.  What’s That in the Water? A Pop-Up Mystery.  Little Bee Books (Bonnier Publishing Group), 2015.  $9.99.  Content: G.  PICTURE BOOK.
Just like its charming companion, Who’s Who in the Woods? A Pop-Up Mystery, the underwater creatures are scared by a pair of eyes they do not recognize.  The shark is sure that it has pincers and fangs.  The octopus is so scared that its many legs are turning to jelly.  The monstrous eyes belong to a curious young tadpole.  Again the authors use a monochromatic color scheme to add to the scary feel: blues, blacks, whites, and grays.   The pop-ups come out and up from different angles giving the book a lovely variety.  A perfect read for kids who want a little scary, but very safe.  Again, it would be a great read aloud book, but the size is more appropriate for an individual reader.
