The Flock Factor (Shawn the Sheets: Tales from Mossy Bottom Farm) by Martin Howard -NO

Howard, Martin The Flock Factor (Shawn the Sheets: Tales from Mossy Bottom Farm) 78 pgs. Candlewick, 2014. $5.00 Content: Language: G (0 swears); Mature Content: G Violence: G CHAPTER BOOK
When Farmer enters a talent show it inspires the Sheep to go head to head with the chickens in their own barnyard talent show. At first things are not going well for Shaun and his friends, but they find a hidden talent with Shirley and know they can win. When the big day arrives, things couldn’t go worse and it will be up to Shaun to figure out how to bring Sheep to the victory.
I have to be brutally honest here, reading this book is exactly what I would imagine being a child on an after Halloween candy binge and having ADHD would feel like. Its all over the place and frenetic, which probably mirrors the TV show its based on, perfect for entertaining. My biggest issue is actually the vocabulary, its really not geared well to 1st and 2nd graders, who would be the biggest audience for this read. Boom Box, Fez, harrumphed, rummage sales; these are just some of many examples of off the wall and not well chosen words and concepts.
