The Trouble with Flirting by Claire LaZebnik - OPTIONAL

LaZebnik, Claire The Trouble with Flirting, 313 pgs. HarperTeen (HarperCollins), 2013. Language - PG (42 swears, 0 "f"), Sexual Content - PG; Violence - G;

After years of being told that theater is a waste of time, Franny finally gets to spend the summer at a theater camp. As the costume designer's assistant. Franny thought it would be hard to be so close to her passion and not participate, but the real struggle turns out to be whether to date the flirt or hold our for her long-time crush who is starting to show some interest back.

This was a nice modern adaptation of Jane Austen's Mansfield Park, but it was also a pretty shallow book. While the drama made for a fun read, I could only take so much of it at a time--which discouraged me from finishing it. Overall, I didn't find Franny's story very relatable, but it might be fun for those who have read Mansfield Park and can spot the parallels between the two books.
