The Fruits We Eat by Gail Gibbons –OPTIONAL

Gibbons, Gail The Fruits We Eat Holiday House, 2015. $17.95 PICTURE BOOK/NON-FICTION
This book features information on the different ways that fruit grows: trees, plants, vines, and more. As well as parts of a different fruits like peaches and blueberries. It goes into information about the process of harvesting fruit as well such as using a machete to cut banana stalks.
Wow, this book is a giant explosion of information. I was a bit overwhelmed by the mass amount of busy drawings and the chosen layout. The main portion of the lower grade level text is along the bottom, but the drawings bleed downward so they are lost in the mix of the confusion of the heavily illustrated pages. For information books, I like to see a simpler book with a clear layout and method to the presentation of information and a mix of photographs and illustrated panels.
