It’s the day of the Mystery Fair and Dipper, Mabel, and Stan all have goals.  Dipper is trying to win Wendy over. Mabel want to win the pig of her dreams, Waddles. Stan just wants to make a lot of money. All seems to be going to plan until Dipper inevitably screws up with Wendy and she ends up with Robbie. All due to a time traveler who screws up the whole thing. After tricking the time traveler into giving them his belt, Dipper and Mabel start trying to fix time so that Mabel gets the pig and Dipper gets the girl. Dipper, however, is terrible at winning over girls and the screws up the time-space continuum. Will Dipper and Mabel be able to fix time and get what they’ve always dreamed of? When a cop car gets wrecked and shureep get taken, footprints of some creature was found. A monster is definitely in town, can Mabel and Dipper stop it before it’s too late?

True to the tv series, this fun basic horror novel is fairly well-written, humorous, and engaging. The character, Dipper is a little annoying, but Mabel is a lovable character most kids will relate to. This basic chapter book is an ideal fit for young readers new to chapter books who are interested in science fiction and horror. EL. ADVISABLE.
