Blown Away by Rob Biddulph -OPTIONAL

Biddulph, Rob Blown Away HarperCollins, 2014. $17.99 PICTURE BOOK
A cute little artic penguin named Penguin Blue is carried off by his kite. When anyone tries to help him, they are carried away too! The little group of Artic animals manage to let go over a jungle, landing safely. But they find out quickly that its too hot! How will they get home?
First off, amazing illustrations, with harmonious colors, smart layouts, and great texture. But the story itself didn’t quite catch my attention, especially since the effort to keep the rhyming scheme intact forced the use of some odd words for kids like: maiden flight, plight, companions, crest. Also the rhyme just flow that well in any case. Not one I would seek out, but its cuteness and cover appeal may be appealing to students.
