There’s a Pig in My Class! by Johanna Thydell - ADVISABLE

Thydell, Johanna. There’s a Pig in My Class! PICTURE BOOK. Holiday House, $16.95. Content: G.

The loneliest pig in the world lives next to a school.  Pig decides to make an escape and go to school to eat tasty snacks, play fun games, and make new friends. The students dress him up and hide him well.  He has the most wonderful of days until the teacher discovers his presence.

This book is imaginative and far-fetched, but very heartwarming.  The pictures and text blend incredibly well. The main story takes center stage, but the author does a very good job of inserting underlying themes of friendship, acceptance, and forgiveness.
