Pigsticks and Harold and the Incredible Journey by Alex Milway – OPTIONAL

Milway, Alex Pigsticks and Harold and the Incredible Journey 84 pgs. Candlewick, 2014. $12.99 Content: Language: G (0 swears); Mature Content: G Violence: G
Pigsticks is a pig who decides to become an explorer, like his ancestors. He looks for the perfect assistant, and ends up with a hamster, who he bribes with cake. As they make their journey to the ends of the earth, Harold the Hampster, carries the pack, and has a few more close calls than Pigsticks, but he keep going with thoughts of cake. Will they reach the end of the earth and eat cake, or will they be captured by goats?
This is an completely adorable book. The illustrations and presentation of the story is just cuddly! The story didn't quite compare though, it wasn't very interesting or funny. I didn't like that Pigsticks failed to even see Harold or appreciate him, I just felt bad for the cute hamster. Despite the length, its mostly illustrations so this book is almost an early reader, maybe more of an early chapter book.
