I was naturally drawn to this book because my name is in the title. J It is written in verse. Suzy is a tom boy and her best friend is a girly girl. Her little brother is getting all the attention because he rescued a neighbor calling 911. She is feeling a little left out. She is inspired by a librarian to learn about Emily Dickinson. She is enchanted by her writing and learns more about the famous poet. She realized that Emily became a recluse later in her life and never left her house. She decides that in order to truly become “Emily” that she has to live the same kind of life. She tells her friends and family that they can only communicate with her through letters. She even wears a flowy white dress. She becomes extremely bored but his determined to perservere. Through an amazing discover of herself she realizes she can be herself and encorporate Emily’s better qualities and still be Suzy. I adore this book.
