Like many little
dogs today, Twinky finds himself the victim of being dressing up, coddled, carried
in a purse, and to his dismay –not allowed to pee, sniff, and act like a real
dog. Like the big dogs get to. One day he gets a lesson from the big dogs at a
local park, which Twinky puts to good use in saving the day!
I loved this
book!!! Students will relate to how our culture treats little dogs today and
understand the perspective of Twinky wishing for more. There are parts that are
laugh out loud funny and the cadence of the story is perfect for a read-aloud (Says Twinky the Dinky 10 times fast!).
The artwork is fresh and adorable. I am buying this level 3 early reader, right
away for my school library.
