This Girl is Different by JJ Johnson –ADVISABLE

Johnson, JJ This Girl is Different 320 pgs. Peachtree Publishers, 2013 (Re-Print). $12.45.  Content: Language: G (5 swears); Mature Content: PG-13 ;  Violence: G.
Evie starts attending public school for the first time, just in time for her senior year. Thanks to her mom and her upbringing, Evie is incredibly intelligent and brave. She makes some great friends instantly, but is confounded by the education system. Constantly thwarted and appalled by the rules, teachers, and more - SO Evie fights back, and things get out of hand. Will she regret going to public school or will she learn some profound lessons?
This was a fantastic read. Each chapters starts with a great quote and it sets the tone. This is a smart book and the reader is challenged to think outside of the box. Students will love how brave and interesting Evie is. Just a cool hip read. Would have been rated as essential without the cheesy/heavy petting style romance.
